Cosmetic Injectables
Lanluma
Lanluma is an injectable collagen stimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Rather than filling an area immediately, it prompts a gradual tissue response that may increase collagen over several months. It is used on the face and is also used on selected body areas, such as the buttocks, thighs, abdomen, arms or décolletage, either to improve the look of lax or crepey skin or to add gradual volume. Body treatments use larger amounts of product, and outcomes depend strongly on the starting skin quality and technique. It is not a weight-loss treatment and does not replace surgery. Suitability, areas and the number of sessions are decided after assessment by Dr. Areej Albisher, and results vary.

What to expect, recovery and risks
Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common for several days, and initial fullness from the fluid fades before gradual change appears. Massage is usually advised for a period afterwards. Risks include palpable nodules or lumps, uneven results, infection and, rarely, vascular complications. Several sessions spaced weeks apart are usually needed, with results assessed over months.
Common questions
Is Lanluma the same as Sculptra?
Both are based on poly-L-lactic acid and work by gradually stimulating collagen. They are different products with different presentations and uses; the choice depends on the area and assessment.
Can it replace a surgical body procedure?
No. It may improve skin quality or add modest gradual volume in suitable patients, but it does not reproduce the effect of surgery and is not for weight loss.
How long until changes appear?
Changes typically develop over several months after a course of treatment. The degree and duration of change vary between individuals.
