Cosmetic Injectables
AestheFill
AestheFill, made by REGEN Biotech in South Korea, is an injectable collagen stimulator based on poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA). It is supplied as a freeze-dried powder of small biodegradable microspheres that is mixed with sterile water shortly before treatment. Once injected, the particles provide some initial support and then prompt a controlled tissue response that may encourage new collagen over the following weeks and months, while the material itself is gradually broken down by the body. It is mainly used for facial wrinkles and folds and for gradual support of areas that have lost volume. It contains no hyaluronic acid, which distinguishes it from Juvelook, and it is a different material from the poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra or Lanluma. The manufacturer notes that approved uses and availability differ between countries. Suitability, depth and the number of sessions are decided after assessment by Dr. Areej Albisher, and results vary.

What to expect, recovery and risks
Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common for several days, and early fullness from the fluid usually fades before any collagen-related change appears. Massage or other aftercare may be advised. Meaningful risks include lumps or nodules, which can appear weeks or months later, uneven results, infection and, rarely, injection into a blood vessel, which can damage skin or, very rarely, affect vision. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, PDLLA cannot be dissolved with an enzyme, so careful placement matters. A course of two or more sessions several weeks apart is common, with results reviewed over months.
Common questions
How is AestheFill different from Sculptra?
Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid, while AestheFill uses poly-D,L-lactic acid microspheres. Both aim to stimulate collagen gradually; the appropriate choice depends on the area and assessment.
How is AestheFill different from Juvelook?
Both contain PDLLA, but Juvelook also contains hyaluronic acid and is mainly used more superficially for skin quality, while AestheFill is mainly used for folds and volume support.
Can AestheFill be reversed?
No enzyme dissolves it, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers. The material is broken down by the body over time, which is why planning and technique are important.
